I have used Mark Allen Plumbing for several years in my previous home and always find they do the best work for the most reasonable prices. I have never had to go through a job this large and I am very thankful I chose Mark Allen to complete it! I will admit, we first called a large franchise as it appeared cheaper, but we got exactly what we paid for, bad service and an incomplete job. When our sewer backed up 24 hours after this company had left, I called Mark Allen. They sent a plumber right away who spent significant time trying to clear the line. When he couldn’t get the line clear, he immediately reassured us we would be a priority the next morning. He referred a company to help me clean up the mess and ensured someone would call us first thing. That next morning, we received a call by 7:30 a.m. and had Ed Stamerra there to run the camera by 9:00 a.m. that morning. From the time we recognized that it was going to be a large sewer replacement job, Ed was in our corner making sure we would make it through each step without issue. As with any large job, there were a few bumps along the way, but Ed assured us we could call anytime and he immediately had someone out to help provide a fix to get us through. The largest obstacle was the resistance of Allstate to stand up for their claim. When our claim was initially denied, I called Ed and he immediately got to work. Even though it was after 5 in the evening, he still made calls and continued to work on the situation the next morning. By 10 a.m. that next morning, Allstate had stood up for the policy that they should have done in the first place. We did have to continue to fight the insurance company for over a month after the job was complete, but Ed stayed on top of communication and helping us actually get the check out the insurance company. My husband and I are so appreciative not only of the high-quality work that was done, but of the unparalleled service that was offered. We are truly Mark Allen Plumbing customers for life and will always recommend them for any size job.

I am editing my review to up it to five stars from the two I had given at first. They had initially dropped the ball but Mark Allen Plumbing has gone out of their way to make a frustrating situation right. I have never worked with a contractor that was so genuine in their apology and so eager to fix their mistakes. I can honestly say that I will be calling them the next time we need plumbing or heating work done because even when there are problems, the work they do is top notch.

I have used this service four times (install cast iron tub and replace fixtures, replace tub fixtures on master BR bath, install furnace electronic filter and humidifier and move existing plumbing from above surface to below surface). The quality of then work has been superior in every instance. They are prompt and meet their commitments. In one instance I presented a part that I had purchased as part of the job, he rejected the part as “junk” and installed a solid brass drain pipe rather than the plastic one I had at no additional charge.
When I first started using these folks, the company was called Mark Gillece Plumbing. While Mark may be part of the family with the larger plumbing business (I don’t know if he is or not) but the name change was to distance his business from the allegations surrounding the more well known and much larger business.
This is an honest business that does what it says it will do professionally and effectively. I keep coming back as a result.

Early last year, my son bought an older home near Pittsburgh. When the sewer line backed up last fall, he called Mark Allen Plumbing. Ed from Mark Allen inspected the line with a camera and gave us an estimate. Fortunately, they were able to start right away. My son had insurance coverage for sewer lines. Ed helped us understand how to file a claim and told us what to expect as far as reimbursement. The workers were polite and they worked hard. The job involved breaking up concrete in the basement, hauling out debris, adding crushed stone, installing the new line and re-cementing the floor. Most of this was done by hand, carrying materials up two flights of stairs to the entrance, then down a flight to the basement. At the end of the week, the work was done and Ed provided a breakdown of costs to the insurance company and to us. Then, the insurance company stalled on paying the claim. Ed provided personal service and stood by his customer to get the claim back on track! Insurance coverage is important but most homeowners never have to deal with filing a claim. If you do need to file, it helps to have someone familiar with the process in your corner. Now, the house has working plumbing, and we have a check that covers a significant amount of the cost. Mark Allen, as a company, is dependable and professional. Ed goes the extra mile to help his customers. We were very pleased. Always promp and professional. Would highly recommend!

6 degrees and woke up to a dead furnace @ 3:00am.
I called Mark Allen and was told the tech would be there within the hour.
And hour late Adam was knocking at my door. He was very knowledgeable and was able to determine what the issue was in 20 minutes.
Cutting to the chase, I am once again warm and toasty.
In case you missed it, I am VERY happy with the service I received from Mark Allen.

I had a plumbing emergency late at night. The first so called 24 hour plumber I contacted did not answer, my call went right to voicemail. Next I tried Mark Allen Plumbing, and was so relieved to talk to a live person. She was very helpful and understanding, and then when the plumber called us back, he was also so understanding concerning our problem. Even though it was after midnight, he did not rush me off the phone and answered all my questions. It ended up that the water company had to make the repair, but Mark Allen Plumbing told us to call back in the AM if the problem wasn’t resolved. They helped us through a stressful situation and I will not hesitate to contact them again with any plumbing issues.

Look, I am as skeptical as they come when it comes to contacting the right company for a job. Mark Allen Plumbing & Heating has proven to me to be the BEST when it comes to honesty, integrity, and being reasonable. They treat you as you would want to be treated. I felt as though I not only got a GREAT deal, but I have full confidence that I can contact this company and be treated like gold. I have had two different jobs (new hot water heater; repair and set toilet) done at my house by Mark and his staff, and I have been extremely happy with both. Mark’s plumbers correctly identified the problem and FIXED THE PROBLEM, not just preventing the “symptoms” of the problem. His prices are very fair in comparison (I had 3 other quotes), and Mark personally came to check the work done by his plumbers in both instances.
I would highly recommend his services to anyone in the South Hills area for plumbing needs.

i was very impressed with the service i received from this company. my ac wasn’t functioning properly so i called on Thursday@3 pm.the tech,tom arrived promptly at 830 am on Friday, the next day he was thorough and fast and didn’t try to sell me stuff i didn’t need. i really appreciate the honesty and quality of the service he performed i would rate this company as a 5 star company and highly recommend them to everyone, extremely professional very reasonable prices

I was notified of a gas leak in the service line to my home. I called Mark Allen, and a representative came out the same day to assess the situation. A crew arrived the following morning and made the repair. Mark Allen himself made a follow up phone call and visit to ensure everything was ok. He even tried to repair my water heater that was damaged due to recent flooding. Mark Allen continued to stay in touch as it was determined that there was a leak on the gas company’s side of the line. Mark Allen Plumbing went way above and beyond the call when I needed help. They have earned my business for any and all future plumbing needs that I may have. I would highly recommend this company.

Adam from Mark Allen Plumbing & Heating came out on an emergency call when my furnace was no longer running on one of the coldest nights of the year. He promptly diagnosed the problem, went back to his office to get the necessary part (blower motor) and had us back up and running shortly before midnight.
Following the repair the humidifier was no longer coming on, and Adam came back out the next day on his own time to correct a wiring issue. It has been a few weeks now and everything is still running great. Thanks very much, Adam, and keep up the great work!

Could not be happier with our Mark Allen experience! After being totally screwed over by another well-known company, we got a second opinion from Mark Allen. What the other company tried to convince us would require an entirely new AC unit, furnace, and duct work…MA fixed with a new thermostat. Done and done. Adam B was our guy, and he was absolutely kind, straightforward, quick, honest, and professional. He answered all of our questions, and had our system back up and running in about an hour. I sit here shivering in my perfectly chilled home because of him. Kudos!
